Working at Petsmarts had positives, and then negatives like any other jobs, but it seemed the negatives often outweighed the positives at times. Today, he had been insulted by his manager when arriving at work and told how he would always be some low life that worked at the pet store, because he was pissed at an employee who forgot to feed the snakes which lead to one getting out and getting into the pen where they kept the mice. All in all, they now needed to get more mice and Tobias had to catch the snake as his manger was too peeved to do the job. After that, a lot of idiots seemed to sense how upset and of course, angry Toby had become at his manger that a lot of customer came in and asked outrageous questions about caring for pets. All them declaring that their just animals and don’t know the difference between a small cage to a large cage that would keep them happy. Not only that, but a couple dragged in their elder dog and was about ready to ditch it at the store to which he called them out before directing them to a no kill shelter. Hopefully they listened to him or else he would blow his own brains out.
All in all, his day had been filled with anger as people seemed to be idiots when it came to animals. They didn’t seem to care about the welfare, and it just made him want to rip their insides out or get it to where they would never own pets again as either would work for him. Like all bad things, his day soon came to an end and he left in a hurry as he felt if he stood around longer then he would be tempted to mouth off to a customer or worst, his manager. Facing the cold, he shivered lightly as he headed towards the back of the parking lot as employees had to keep their cars all the way back there for some stupid reason. Unlocking the car, he cracked the heat on full blast and headed over to Asylum knowing it would be empty until later tonight… At least he would be able to get his way into the club and see if he score some drinks as he needed to get his mind numb from the painful day he had experienced. Not only that, but he heard the club had a new bartender who could possibly score him a fake ID depending if he was in that business as he heard he was in a lot of bad dealings.
Driving away from Hell, it took him a good thirty minutes before arriving and parking his car at Asylum! where he headed into the club to see it had a couple of people wandering inside. The bouncers wouldn’t show until the place got crazy and so he didn’t need to deal with them. Going up to the bar, he folded his arms and glanced about before spotting the new bartender. Not caring if he was in the middle of in order, he spoke up.
“Vodka.” A simple drink, but one that would warm him up from the winter’s harsh wrath and one that would get him drunk as quick as possible… Of course, it wasn’t a good idea to drive drunk, but then again he could always just walk home in his true form and get his car in the morning. He didn’t have work as the idiot who forgot to feed the snake was working instead. If only his manager would fire him as Tobias would be more than happy to gain some extra shifts as college wouldn’t pay for itself.
The night was young, it was 7pm and the club was already beginning to become full. Travis began his usual shift, which would go to 1pm, it was a short shift but he liked working when it was hectic and the club pumped with music and dancing. He was serving drinks when a thin young blonde came to the black marble bar, sliding herself onto one of the golden stools that lined the bar. "Strawberry cherry shots, four please" she asked. Travis winked at her "no problem love" he replied before he reached under the bar for the bottle and mix. Sliding the shots towards the blonde he started to screw the cap back onto the bottle as he spoke. "Haven't seen you before beautiful, you and your friends new in town?" he asked, his eyes looking her over, she was cute.
The girl grinned brightly before flipping her long hair over her shoulder "ya, visiting, came here to party for the night" she stated. Travis smirked "that's good, I'll get ya whatever ya need doll". The girl was about to speak when her eyes shifted to the other end of the bar. Travis followed her gaze as he heard vodka being yelled out. Travis raised his and "whoa, one sec bud" he cautioned. Looking back to the blonde he continued "you have some gorgeous eyes, you know that?' he complimented "and a smile to match" he was going to hook this one, he could feel it. The girl gave a laugh before leaning onto the bar closer to Travis "your not bad yourself" she replied.

Holding a growl from rising in his throat, he glared at the two while muttering after all, he just wanted to numb his mind from work and hopefully, get a fake ID if this so called new bartender rolled that way as it would mean he could go to Krazy 8’s and hang out there instead of this crazy place. He had never been big on socializing with others and his harsh personality was the biggest hint on how much he hated people, despite the pack mentality his two shifting animals had. Most of time, he felt conflicted on giving in and making friends or keep being the loner who shot insults at anyone who came close. Letting the feral growl that sounded more wolf like, then dog, he quickly shot something towards the two after all, he was an asshole who had a low patience level.
“As much as I love watching two idiots act like hormonal teenagers, I’d like to get my drink before you two feel the need to act upon those instincts.” One final glare was given, before he turned his gaze towards the dance floor as a string of muttered cursed followed as if he was trying to make his point that he was pissed.
Travis scoffed when the young kid spoke about hormones and some other stuff Travis had tuned out as soon as he spoke. The young blonde rolled her eyes before she took her shots and headed back towards a round table at the other side of the club to met back up with her girlfriends. Travis cursed under his breath, this kid cost him a fu*k. Breathing inwards Travis walked over to where the kid sat. Looking the guy over, Travis took in how young this kid looked. The bouncers were not at the doors yet, they came at 9pm when the club became really busy. Reaching under the bar Travis poured the vodka and slid it towards the guy. "Here" he said before turning his back to the kid. Travis needed to pull the glasses from below for tonight, it was going to be a busy night, it almost always was.
He crouched, starting to take glasses from the shelves below to the top counters at the back of the bar. It was a large bar, the same length of the club almost except for two passes on each side for traffic. It was the second hottest spot in Asylum after the huge dance floor. An older guy about Travis's age came to the bar with two red heads on each arm he leaned onto the counter looking for Travis "two lime shots and a Bud" he asked. Travis stood "sure thing guy" he said, his Brooklyn accent wasn't hard to miss. One of the redheaded girls back up into where the kid sat almost tripping before grasping his shoulder "oops, sorry there shorty" she laughed before taking a few unsteady steps back towards the older guy. Clearly these girls had pre-drinked before coming to Asylum, most did.

A simple ‘here’ was given to him and he was given his drink which he gladly took a sip from. A burning sensation came to his throat as the vodka travel down. He welcomed it as he was used to the feeling by now. Turning his gaze to the line of different bottles of different types of alcohol after all, nothing would catch his attention as he would never go after anyone in this club… Heck, he wouldn’t even touch them with a three foot pole if given the chance. Another sip was taken, followed by another within a couple of minutes yet, his gaze turned when he heard a few giggles before noticing an older man with two women wrapped around him. Rolling his eyes, he was about to return his gaze back to the bottles before one of the red heads bumped into him and ‘apologized’ by calling him shorty.
“Oh no, clearly you’re a drunken mess and I by default, should not accept that half ass apology.” A glare was given to the female before he returned back to his drink and took another sip. He didn’t care if he was a bit on the short side after all, what he lacked in height was clearly made up in his little shifting ability. Even so, he felt his gaze go back to the bartender and he wondered how he kept his job, as he would have lost his cool a long time ago just as he was right now… The only reason he kept his job at Petsmarts because the manager knew Toby was rude, but he told the honest truth when it came to animals even if it hurt the customers ‘feelings’. The truth always hurt when it came from someone else, but he never held back.
Travis turned to give the two shots and the beer when he took in the scene. After the redhead had stumbled back to her guy the older man gave a laugh before pushing the girl out of his way "what did you say you little sh*t?" the anger could be heard in his voice. Travis slid the drinks towards the older man "hey buddy, come on no trouble, here" Travis's voice distracted the man before he could say or do anything to the kid. The older man shook his head before grabbing his beer "ya ya, that little fu*ker ain't worth my time, come on" he said to the other two girls who quickly took their shot glasses and stumbled to follow him into the now growing crowd.
Travis gave a sigh as they walked off before turning his attention to the kid "nice way to almost get your ass kicked" he stated as he started to wipe down the bar's surface with a cloth, it was sticky from a customer before and Travis always liked a clean looking bar. A dirty one drove away guests no matter how drunk they were. Travis's eyes looked the kid over before he finally asked "why are you in here anyways kid, your not legal that's for damn sure" he confessed, he knew the second the kid sat down he wasn't of age. But the owner didn't care who came in, as long as they paid, and her staff was the same way.

Having a rude, and disrespectful personality meant he got into a lot of trouble so it was no surprise when anger rose in the other man’s voice well after he said his ‘opinion’. About ready to stand up from where he sat, the bartender intervened before Toby had time to snap something back. Instead, the man grabbed his beer, ‘insulted’ Toby even though he wasn’t offended as he was sure a two year old could do better, and headed off with the two red heads. Turning his gaze, he got a comment from the bartender to which he shrugged at the comment.
“I doubt it. Last time I checked, I would have been fine.” He spoke up, his tone quite serious, but he wasn’t confident in his fighting ability, but more so the twisted disease he had been given. Congenital analgesia, or put in simple terms, the condition of not feeling pain. Those who knew the disease well knew how much of a burden it could be, especially Toby as he was at higher risks for everything. Even so, if he got into a fight he would have come out feeling fine, but that also meant a trip to the hospital while the other guy would be well whatever he felt afterwards. Losing himself in to his own thoughts about how easily life could be taken from him, he snapped his head when the other spoke up once more.
“Whoa, you want my life story… I don’t think I’m drunk enough for that.” A small smirk settled on his face at his little witty remark before he gave another shrug as he had a bad habit at shrugging at everything. “Well to put simply, I had a pretty terrible day and I would like to forget about it. So I’ll spare you the rant of my life sucks and ask for another vodka. After all, I'm sure your tired of hearing drunks rant.”
Travis let the kid's comments slide. He scoffed mentally before smirking about the kid having a crappy day. Despite knowing the kid was underage Travis reached for the vodka bottle just under the bar and poured another drink. Sliding it to him "here, it'll warm you up before you go out into that weather..... hate winter" he added before turning his back to grab more glasses. A few people started coming to the bar and ordering drinks, the club was becoming fuller with each passing minute.
Travis served the drinks before glancing to the kid, looking him over he furrowed his brow before speaking. "So how come if you don't like where you work, you stay? get another job?" he suggested. Bartenders were always lending ears and giving what Travis called "drunk advice".

Another drink was slid over towards him which he accepted without question. Unlike the last vodka, he took bigger sips as the place was starting to become a bit more packed. He wasn't a fan of people, and the thought of leaving crossed his mind after all, he was sure the vodka would be kicking in which meant it would affect his judgement, and he was more likely to start a fight, then he would when sober. Rubbing his eyes, he took a glance around the place just as the bartender spoke up.
"So you want to pay my rent?" A grin settled on his face which looked a bit odd on the male as he tended to have scold on his face at all time. "As much as I would love to tell my manager off before declaring that I quit, I like every other person needs a mean of making money..."
Travis shrugged "I didn't say quit, get another job before quitting, then tell you manager to go f*ck himself, easy" he said as he clean the inside of a glass with a clean rag. He took notice of the guy rubbing his eyes "you gonna be ok guy?" he asked with a head tilt. More people came to the bar, the club was officially busy and pumping, the music was turned up louder and if people passed outside every beat and word could be heard.
When finished with the few customers Travis turned back to the kid. "And no I'm not paying your rent, got my own to worry about" he stated with a slight chuckle. This kid wasn't that bad, when he wasn't of the defensive.

Blinking a few times, he thought about the words the bartender had spoken to him as he felt the buzz from the vodka slowly kicking in. Toby hadn't been drinking for long, and so getting drunk was quite easy for the male. Staring at the vodka, he stopped drinking for a bit as he listened to the beat of some sort of Katy Perry song. The volume of the music seemed to be on full blast, and was slightly annoying as Toby was already having a hard time getting his thoughts together, but he knew it was just an effect of drinking. Turning his gaze to the discarded vodka, he watched the drunks of the club stagger out onto the floor as they rocked their bodies to the beat. It was weird watching them do such, and almost had Toby rolling his eyes before the bartender spoke up.
"Doesn't everyone?" Was his simple comment back as he turned his face back to his vodka before taking a sip. "I just got to suck it up... Get through college, and hopefully get myself hired somewhere else, then I can tell him to F off."
Welcome to the scenic town of Salem, Michigan where our story takes the stage. It’s the year 2016, a date not quite far for us to be unable to imagine. Whispers of rebellion are starting to shake the supernatural world, hunters are loading their pistols while the humans are nearly wetting themselves in fear. Each side has their finger on the trigger, itchy and waiting for the other to strike to set off this war. Which side will you choose or how will your story unfold? That, my friend, is left to the wiles of time unless you think you can play your cards right…. But only in the end will they truly be revealed.
