Zapreshcheno Forest or translated to Forbidden Forest, was named by a Russian who tried to disprove that the forest was actually forbidden. Sadly when he ventured out, he came back five days later in dying condition. The forest was named in his honor, and had most people stay away until the 1980s when the region became a part of a national park.
