"Yeah, but life isn't fair and you just got to deal with." A small smile was given as if reassuring the other he had accepted his faith a long time ago, and not only that, but he wasn't doing the whole act of sympathy either which was refreshing. Not often did people react in such a manner when it came to finding out about this, and appreciation seemed to shine a bit in his eyes. Yet, he had lighten the mood and moved on to a different topic as it wasn't good to dwell on things that couldn't be changed or fixed. Life was hard, but you dealt with the cards you had and made the best of it.
"Well I did tell them it sucked to be them..." He explained and he was surprised as well, normally people weren't "surprised" to see himself in fact so would go as far as saying it was a disappointment, but he tended to jeer at those people more often after that statement which only peeved them off more. If there was an Olympic sport for mocking, and being rude, he was sure he would have come home with the gold medal every four years. Yet, on the topic of hunters the other asked to agree to disagree and he nodded after all, the two were just different when it came to their views on hunters. "Yeah that might be best."
"Well I guess they're trying at least... I mean I knew a book called Twilight, but I can't stand it. It's like they knew half the facts, but not the full story and I didn't enjoy the love triangle either." He admitted to reading one of the newer supernatural books, but didn't count it due to the false information given in a lot of the parts. Not only that, but the love triangle was enough to make him feel sick to his stomach. He never understood why so many people were in love with a book about a girl who just wanted to date the vampire dude because he was a vampire. Shaking his heads from those thoughts as he didn't want to remember reading that book ever. "I guess I'm just being a bit on the blind side."
"That's true, one has to make the best of ones situation." Damien agreed with a nod. He had met several admirable people through his life that had gone through great hardships. Those who overcame great hardships always came out stronger in the end.
Damien let out an amused chuckle at Toby's explanation. "Yes I can understand why that would "tick" them off. Though I must ask that you try to not anger more people here, I'd like to keep the library peaceful and enjoyable for everybody." He spoke, part amusement and part exasperation colored his voice. While speaking with Toby certainly was fun, he really didn't want to have to deal with people complaining to him often. The library was supposed to be a quiet place after all.
Listening to Toby talk about Twilight Damien gave a slight grimace. He had read the first book, as he felt he had to be aware of popular books that people came to borrow. It was definitely a series for young girls, it was the kind of book with an intentionally bland main character so it made it easier for the readers to see themselves in Bella's place. While it may be an enjoyable book for tweens, it was a boring read for a grown man "Haha, yes I read the first book. It does have a lot of inaccurate facts, though it's aimed at young girls. I guess some of them find it interesting, but it's nothing I would recommend for more serious readers."
"Well I guess I can try and not to piss anyone else off... It will take a lot of self-control I never knew I had, but I think I'm up for the challenge." A light grin was given, and if it was tempted to give the other a playful punch to the arm, but hadn't after all, this wasn't like a movie. Instead, he gave off a light shrug as Damien made a comment about the 'Twilight' series which surprised him after all, he thought he was the only male on the planet who caved into the pressure to read the book. Well, it was better, then a reaction of being made fun of.
"True... I don't know it just so weird. Like I feel that reading the book that I lost my manhood in a way. I just don't understand why teen girl's love the whole love triangle." Another shrug was given, and he was speaking honestly. He never understood why teenage girls loved seeing unrealistic love as he felt it affected them in a way during High School.
"That's good, what are life without challenges." Damien joked back, but he was grateful. He really didn't want to have to deal with complains, and grumpy people everyday. Laughing at Toby's comment about losing his manhood when reading Twilight, Damien really could sympathize with him. Some books weren't worth the time dedicated to reading them.
"Hopefully it didn't damage you manhood too badly." Damien chuckled, before continuing; "I'm an expert on a lot of things, but the female mind is unfortunately not one of them. There I'm woefully ignorant. He hadn't even really been in a serious relationship with one. When he had been alive he hadn't dared to act on his crushes, and from what he could remember there hadn't been anyone who liked him back. And after his death, and subsequent resurrection he hadn't really thought about it. Too busy with everything else.
He was about to continue talking when a young mother with a child approached him, and asked for any good books for children. "I have to go back to work. Hopefully I'll see you around, it was great talking to you" He spoke, before giving him an apologetic grin. He had completely forgotten that he was at work while conversing with Toby.
"Boring? That comes to mind." Toby replied back with a chirp, a smirk rose onto his face as his eyes drifted back over to his stack of book. Two challenges were needed to be completed, the first one was reading as many books about dog behavior before the library closed and now he had to not peeve people off. These challenges would require a great deal of focus and self restraint.
"From what I know... The female of our species is like math. You need to know the formula to even try to get with them... You do the formula so often, you think you can do it with your eyes close until you mess up at one point and it's like game over." Toby explained his logic, a grin settling on his face. "Or it could be men will never understand the mind of a female and we just have to accept that." Toby hadn't been in a relationship after all, most people didn't like the rude and blunt personality he held so dearly. Not only that, but he never fully understood where he stood when it came to which gender he liked. It was kind of weird as most teens had experience something while he felt nothing. When it came down to everything, he never could actually picture himself with another being.
"Yeah, I want to finish reading those books." He replied when he was snapped out of his thoughts.
Welcome to the scenic town of Salem, Michigan where our story takes the stage. It’s the year 2016, a date not quite far for us to be unable to imagine. Whispers of rebellion are starting to shake the supernatural world, hunters are loading their pistols while the humans are nearly wetting themselves in fear. Each side has their finger on the trigger, itchy and waiting for the other to strike to set off this war. Which side will you choose or how will your story unfold? That, my friend, is left to the wiles of time unless you think you can play your cards right…. But only in the end will they truly be revealed.
