Cecile spat, a red glob of blood and spit landing on the ground. Her knuckles were scarped and bloody, and she was bleeding from a split lip. The three guys in front of her weren't fairing much better. They may have the advantage in numbers, but Cecile had superior training. It was evening, and she had been wandering through the square, when she saw the three teenagers torturing a cat. She had seen red, and had rushed towards them throwing a mean punch. Now they had been fighting a few minutes, and Cecile was definitely winning the fight. The boys rushed her again, and Cecile kicked one of them in the stomach, and nailed another in the face with a well placed punch. A harsh kick to her ribs sent her to the grounds wheezing. Her ribs still weren't healed from the brutal beat down she suffered a few weeks ago.
The boys quickly took advantage of the weakness, and began kicking her while throwing out taunts. "You shouldn't have ruined our fun!" One of them spat out, his nose crooked and bleeding. Cecile knew it was broken. "I don't see how torturing defenseless creatures is fun, assholes." She wheezed out before, hooking her leg around the speakers leg and brought him down. The boys hesitated, and that was all she needed. Soon the three boys were retreating quickly, and Cecile leaned heavily on a nearby park bench.
Her ribs were burning, and she was debating on whether or not they had been broken again. Wiping blood form her face, she sighed heavily. As if that wasn't bad enough, she had hurt her ankle too. As Cecile took in her surroundings she became aware of a woman standing nearby. How long has she been there, Cecile wondered dazed.
Cosima was walking through the town square for once she was letting herself be seen by everyone. She was taking some time to herself she wasn't needed any where at the moment and it was nice to have some time to relax. She would stop at a few store windows and look through them wishing she could shop again and have fun like a normal seventeen year old girl. But she wasn't a normal seventeen year old, she was dead and had been dead for one hundred and nineteen years. She had been born in this town and than had died in it in eighteen ninety seven giving birth to her daughter.
The sound of fighting distracted her from her window shopping and she slowly made her way over to the sound of yelling and the smell of blood. When she got there she saw a girl and three boys fighting. And off to the side she spotted a cat lying on the ground alive but obviously injured. She quickly made her way over to it and gently picked it up. She soothed it petting it gently. It was in rough shape but it would live. As she held the cat she watched the fight ready to jump in if the girl needed help but it looked like she had the upper hand until she fell and they started kicking her. Rage began building up in her and she moved to lie the cat down so she could help her. But before she could the girl got up and the fight turned and in a matter of minutes she had the boys running.
Cosima walked over to the girl still carrying the injured cat. "That was some fight are you crazy? Those boys could have killed you if you obviously hadn't of had some kind of training." She set the cat down beside the girl. "You better get this little one some help, I believe she's got a broken leg and maybe a broken rib or two. She's in allot of pain." She looked the girl up and down she was pretty beat up. "As are you I can see do you need me to call someone for you? You should get to the hospital I can take care of the cat."

Cecile gave the woman a tired smile, and her eyes softened when she saw the cat held safely in her arms. Now that she got a closer look at her, she could see that it wasn't a woman, but a girl her own age. It was good to see that the cat was still alive, and that she hadn't injured her ribs again for nothing. "You sound like my grandpa." She chuckled before collapsing down onto the bench. "Then it's a good thing my parents was dead set on teaching me how to defend myself when I was smaller. Those guys are nothing compared to trying to beat my father." Or any kind of supernatural monster for that matter.
"If I hadn't been hurt from before, I would have taken those guys without any problem at all" Cecile bragged with a proud grin on her face. Cecile picked up the cat when the girl sat it down, and she softly stroked its head. The poor thing was all beat up. "I'm not sure where to take her, I've only been living here for a week." She admitted, and frowned down at the cat. That was always what sucked with new places, she didn't know where thing was. It grated on her nerves. When she heard the extent of the cat's injuries she let out a quiet growl, and felt her temper flare again.
"Those bastards, at least I broke their noses." She muttered vindictively. A look of horror crossed her face when the girl mentioned the hospital. there was no way she was going to the hospital, she had just gotten out of there. "I'm fine, plus gramps would kill me if I managed to land myself in hospital again so soon." She protested, not realizing that she was revealing more about her life. The reason why she was living with her grandfather now was so she could recuperate, and finish her education without any more incidents. Apparently child services had been getting to nosy for comfort.
Cosima laughed softly when the girl said she was like her father. It was hard not to grow up and become mature when you've been around for over a hundred years and have helped hundreds of people die and than take them to heaven or hell. That tended to have the effect of making one grow up as did death of course. "Yes I suppose it is a good thing they taught you how to protect yourself. Did you grow up in a city or something I hear it can be pretty dangerous in the city's. I've lived here my whole life." Which was true she had been born here and she had died here. But after death she had traveled all over the world but she always came back to Salem. She had family here though they knew nothing about her other than what their history tells them that she had died at the age of seventeen giving birth to her daughter.
"How did you get hurt last time, do you pick fights with others often?" When the girl said she didn't know where to take her she smiled softly, "don't worry I know a place to take her. There is a animal hospital not far from here I'll tell them she's a stray that some boys where beating up. They'll take good care of her." Cosima couldn't help but to smile at the girls reaction she was always glad to find that there where still good people in the world. "Don't worry they'll get what's coming to them someday. By the way I'm Cosima, what's your name." She wouldn't give a last name if she looked her up she wouldn't find any Cosima living here at least not now if she looked far enough back she might find her but she doubted she would.
Cosima was a little surprised by her reaction, "He may be mad but wouldn't he be madder if you don't go and you have a broken bone and it heals wrong and than you have to go later on and they have to re-break it to fix the original break?"

Cecile shrugged, but grimaced when it caused her ribs to give a painful stab. They were at best bruised, she really hoped they weren't cracked as she didn't think they were broken. "My dad's job caused us to move around a lot, so I've been everywhere from LA and New York to small towns in the middle of nowhere." The familiar lie tumbled from her lips with ease. "Being the new kid is always tough, so it was halfway so I could defend myself in the big cities, and half so I wouldn't get bullied." But mostly so I wouldn't get killed by that which goes bump in the night, she added silently in her head.
"You lived her your whole life? Great, maybe you could show me around. Do you go to school, or have you graduated already?" Cecile asked, privately hoping that the girl was still in school. It would be nice to have at least one person that she knew already when she started as soon as the weekend was over.
A sheepish smile overtook her face. Because of her temper she was often in fights, especially since she had a habit of butting heads with bullies. "Kinda, it's a bad habit of mine." She admitted, she had gotten suspended a lot of times for fighting. A relieved smile graced her face when the girl told her that she knew of a place. Looking down at the small animal an idea struck her. "I can come with you, I've always wanted a pet. I can adopt her, and pay for her treatment."Hopefully gramps would let her keep the cat.
When the girl, no Cosima, introduced herself Cecile made to stand up to shake her hand, but the painful twinge in her ankle made her give up. "The name's Cecile, 's nice to meet you." She told her, not really thinking about giving her last name. She grumbled a bit at the girls logic, especially since she was right. Her grandfather would be pissed if he found out she didn't get her injuries checked out. He may be a gruff, stubborn old man, but he did care about her. "You're right. But I hate hospitals, it's so boring there. And the nurses always scold me for trying to sneak out." She pouted petulantly.
Cosima noticed the girl wince she felt bad for her after all she got hurt trying to protect an innocent. She was starting to wish she had stepped in sooner but at the same time she had a feeling if she had the young girl might not of appreciated it she seamed to be a proud person. "Oh yes having to move around constantly would stink I imagine. Never staying in one place long enough to make friends and if you did having to leave them and never see them again it must have been hard for you." She nodded her head understanding why her parents would want her to protect herself from bullies and other kinds of people that can be found in the cities.
"Yes I've lived here my whole life it can be rather boring at times," yea right maybe it was when she was alive but she never had time to be bored any more. When she asked if she went to school for once she wished she could say she went to school but she shook her head. "No I'm not in school any more I graduated last year." Another lie she died before she could graduate, she died before she had a chance to really live even.
This girl didn't know how lucky she was to be alive still what she wouldn't give to be alive again. Well other than her soul. She would never make a deal with the devil that just wasn't her and she couldn't understand why some people would do that. She imagined they where just plain evil people.
"That would be great but one problem," she looked at the girl as she tried to stand up and frowned, "you can't walk what if I take you to the hospital than the cat the the animal hospital and tell them what happened and that there is someone who wants to adopt her and pay for the bills and than once you got the ok to leave the hospital I can take you there to see her."
When the girl introduced herself as Cecile she smiled, "we both have names that begin with a c isn't that cool. And it's a pleasure to meet you as well. You may hate hospitals but they have only the best of interest's for you. If you don't sneak out they won't have a reason to scold you. And I imagine they only scold you because their worried about you. I remember my father telling me one time that we only yell because we care."

"Yeah, it kinda sucked. But on the bright side I have a massive information network spanning across the entire country." She joked, though it was true in a way. Those friends that she managed to keep in contact with always had a lot of interesting gossip. Though it had been tough, especially these last years when their moving had gotten even more frequent. This last year she had been lucky if she went to the same school for an entire month.
She sighed in disappointment when Cosima told her that she had already graduated. "That's too bad. I had hoped I wouldn't have to start entirely without knowing anyone when school started..." She grumbled, plus those guys seemed to be around her age so she'd probably have to beat them up again. People like that always came back for revenge, often with more friends to help them. Cowards and assholes the lot of 'em.
Cecile briefly debated arguing, but the constant throbbing of her ribs and the dull ache in her ankle told her that Cosima was right. She wouldn't be going anywhere like this. "Fine, but just so you know I'm not happy about this. This is cruel and unusual punishment." She said to Cosima, before blowing a raspberry at her. "I'm counting on you to take care of the cat, and you owe me a tour of Salem." She grinned cheekily at her. She needed to come up with a name for the cat, she couldn't keep calling it "the cat".
"C is the best letter of the alphabet" She stated in mock seriousness. She wrinkled her nose at her last statement though. "You really sound like my grandfather you know? Do you have the soul of an old person or something?" She shot back, before laughing imagining her grandfather in her Cosima's clothes That would have made for a funny sight, and slightly disturbing. Her grandfather had always been the one to scold her like that, especially lately. Cecile's parents seemed to have become more and more obsessed with hunting.
Cosima laughed at that, "well it's always good to have a massive information network where you can keep up with everything." She was liking this girl more and more she really seemed to be a good person. Though all the clues where there what with her parents training her to fight and being able to beat up three strong teenage boys it never even entered her mind that she might be a hunter. In fact it was the farthest thing from her mind.
"Yea I'm sorry about that but you'll make a bunch of friends when school starts they just need to et to know you. I just met you and already I like you so it shouldn't be to hard for you to make friends." Cosima gave her a brilliant smile hoping to cheer her up some.
Cosima gave her head a nod, "yes C is the best letter of the alphabet maybe we should give the cat a name that begin's with C. Like maybe C.C or Coffee or Crescent it is a crescent moon tonight I believe. It could stand for the day you found her and saved her." The more she thought about it the more she liked that name but it wasn't up to her what they named it. No it was up to Cecile since she would be the one paying for the vet bills and adopting the cat. So it should be a name she felt really stood for the cat.
When Cecile asked her if she had an old soul she laughed, "I guess you could say I do." Thinking quickly on her feet she gave a half truth. "I had to grow up pretty quickly since both my parents are dead and it's just me. I have no one else so I have had to grow up real quickly unlike most kids my age."

Cecile smiled gratefully at Cosima, it was always a pain in the ass starting at a new school. And it was even more important to get along with people here, as she would be living here at least until graduation, 1 and a half year in the future. "Thanks, I usually manage to make some friends so I wasn't worried." She said in her most confident voice. It was true though, she didn't have a hard time making friends, unfortunately she didn't have a hard time making enemies either. "But I'm glad you like me, then at least I've managed to make one friend here in Salem."
Cecile nodded thoughtfully, that was a good idea actually. Crescent was a nice name. She looked down at the cat before smiling. "Crescent's a good name. It fits her." She said, before adding in a playful tone. "Seems I befriended someone with a poetic sense. Didn't take you to be such a mushy person." She snickered, and shot Cosima a teasing grin. It gave her a warm feeling though, she had felt a bit lost when she first came to Salem. Hence the reason why she was wandering aimlessly around town, but this was the first time she felt like Salem could be her home.
A pang of sympathy and pity went through Cecile's mind when she heard that Cosima's parents were dead. Cecile knew she was lucky to have both her parents alive, especially since they were hunters. "I'm sorry. They must have been good people. She said, before floundering a bit. It wasn't her place to talk or assume anything about Cosima's dead parents. "Since you're such a good person you know. They must have done a good job raising you." She finished lamely, her voice trailing of.
In her haste to make for her awkward words she stood up quickly forgetting her injuries. As she stood up her ankle gave out from under her, and her ribs gave a painful twinge as she sucked in a pained breath as she braced herself for her inevitable meeting with the hard ground.
Cosima had left out the fact that she was a veterinarian as the animal hospital, the youngest one there. She had taken an online course when they first became available years ago. Cosima nodded and smiled at Cecile, "well that's good to hear that you make friends easily. You might want to work on trying not to make enemies though I think you might have made some with those boys so you better watch your back."
When Cecile said she liked the name Crescent she smiled down at the cat and scratched her ears. "Did you hear that you got a name now. Now your not the cat or it but Crescent you've found a good home with Cecile." Cosima laughed at the bit about her being a poetic. "I guess so I never really thought about it like that." She wasn't surprised really after all she was born in a time where being poetic was kind of coming with some people.
She tried to give a smile but it faltered she missed her parents and wished she had gotten to know them better. But the truth was she never really knew them. "They where good people though they never had time for me. My father was a doctor and my mother was always to busy with her charities and party's. But they loved me even if they didn't always know how to show it." Cosima could tell Cecile was a little uncomfortable about the discussion so she was about to change it when Cecile stood up and began to fall. Darting forward she quickly caught her before she could hit the ground. "Let's get you to the hospital it's obvious you need help. You can lean on me if you want as we walk to the hospital. Try not to put allot of weight on that ankle of yours ok."

Cecile snorted at that. She always managed to make enemies, and if it weren't people with a grudge on her they had a grudge on her parents and wanted revenge through her. She still remember the time two years ago, when a vampire whose nest had been killed by her parents had tried to kill her in revenge. That had ended in a broken arm, and a dead vampire. She probably would have died hadn't her parents found her in time and killed the vampire. She had gotten a lot of extra training after that. "I think that's impossible. There's just something about my charming personality that pisses people off." She joked, and aborted a shrug when her ribs twinged again. She really needed to be more careful about talking with her body language when she was injured. "I think it has something with my habit of punching people I don't like"
Cecil grinned at Cosima, and snickered lightly. "Well now you know. It's a nice name though. I would have probably named her something lame like Socks, or something." She said, Crescents white paws that contrasted with her black fur really did remind her of socks. That went to show her imagination wasn't terribly amazing. Though it could have been fun to name Crescent "You" or something equally silly.
Cecil grunted in pain, but was grateful that Cosima managed to halt her fall. That would undoubtedly been much worse. She gave her a pained smile, but was grateful. Normally she would have insisted on going there by herself, but she doubted she'd make it all the way. Her ankle was swollen pretty badly, and she hoped it wasn't serious. "Yeah, thanks. I don't think I'd manage to get there by myself. I appreciate it."
Cosima laughed when Cecil explained why she thought she made enemies so easily. That and her habit of punching people. "Yea I think that last one would most certainly make a few enemies. But if they give you a reason to punch them then their most likely not the best of people to make friends with." She smiled widely as she stretched out her arm to pet Crescent. "I'm sure any name you would have given her would have been fine. Socks or Boots are good names. I had a cat named boots once. Which she had when she was a young kid before her parents sent her to boarding school.
Cosima nodded her head, "ok let's get going than," she wrapped her arm around Cecil's waist so she could take some of her weight. "You carry Crescent and lean on me and we'll soon get you some help."
