The sun was shining brightly as Damien strolled down the street, passing small boutiques and chain stores as continued down. In his hands he was holding two medium sized bags filled with art supplies. One was filled with paint,, new brushes, and other miscellaneous art stuff, while the other was contained several canvases of different sizes. He carefully shifted both bags into one hand, and he wiped the sweat of his brow. It really was hot outside today, and he had to admit that he should have put on his shorts instead of the jeans.
While his outfit consisting of dark blue jeans, black sneakers and a white t-shirt with a dark red design looked nice, he really could have chosen better clothing. 80°F was nothing to sneeze at, and he was starting to think about stopping at a small cafe to buy himself some ice cream, if only to cool himself down. Around him the people were buzzing with life, some of them seeming almost oblivious to the heat and he found himself envying. If only becoming a ghoul could have made him impervious to temperature changes, then he would have been much happier.
Damien came to a stop in front of a small, but nice café and began debating whether to go in or not. On one hand he wanted to go home and just relax and maybe get some painting done, while on the other hand an ice cream sounded incredibly good right now.

Warm summer rays were something Lucia hated as she walked along the sidewalk of Crooker park, tapping away at her cell phone. Being an ablino had perks, but the biggest disadvantage had to be how easily she would get burnt from standing in the sun too long. Even so, it didn't seem to stop her from wearing an outfit that would have some females cringing due to the amount of skin it showed, but Lucia had never minded. It was just her being more, then comfortable with her body as she felt she had no flaws. Putting her phone away, she wiped a few stray sweat drops before deciding it would be best to go to the local cafe after all, she was sure ice-cream would cure the heat and cool her down.
Turning around, she headed off in the direction of a small cafe where she had noticed a male standing outside. It was easy to tell that he was probably debating about going in or not. Not only that, but he seemed to be carrying a few bags of art supplies as well. She wondered if he would be useful to her and decided that her day off could include meeting a new "friend". After all, a spy could never have too many scrapegoats when it came to getting information. Slowly, she walked over with a friendly smile before placing herself beside him. "I guess I'm not the only one with the idea of getting something cold to beat the temperature. If I must say, I've never been a fan of warm weather." She spoke quietly before turning her gaze over to see his reaction.

Damien startled as a calm female voice reached his ears, turning his head he finally noticed the woman standing beside him. 'I must have been really out of it not to notice her coming up beside me' he thought before he registered what she said. "Yes, it certainly seems that way. I have to agree, warm days have never really been my preferred weather either." He replied, and gave her a soft smile.
Now that he was looking more closely at her, he could see she was clearly albino. Her skin was very fair, and her hair was a beautiful white. She was incredibly beautiful, and he suddenly itched to draw her. Her face especially was incredibly aesthetically beautiful, and her white eyelashes framed her curiously coloured eyes. The woman had also been smarter than Damien, and was wearing considerably less clothes. He was suddenly glad he felt no sexual attraction to others, or he would have probably been reduced to a drooling mess. Chuckling slightly at the thought he gestured towards the door.
"Since it seems we both had the same idea, would you mind joining me for some ice cream then? He inquired with a smile. "I'm Damien Sweets, I work at the local Library." It would be nice to gain some more friends in Salem, and it was always nice to talk to new people. He couldn't remember seeing her around town before, so he was curious to learn more about her.

The light smile that seemed to dance across her lips about his agreement about not enjoying weather such as the sun amused her. Most of the time, people enjoyed the heat after all, they claimed it was better, then the cold. Feeling a silence grow between them as she felt eyes peering at her carefully as if they were trying to make judgement on whether she was a good person or not, she allowed herself to glance at the menu or what she could... She tried to figure out what sort of flavor she was going to get.
"So many choices." She hummed thoughtfully before her attention returned as he offered for her to join him and he even gave out his name as well. 'Damien' She thought carefully out in her head after all, the name was unique as she hadn't heard that name being used for quite awhile. Turning her face once more to face him, offering a hand as it was the polite thing to do. Yes, she may be in fact a bit cruel, but that didn't mean she didn't know her manners. "A pleasure Damien. I'm Lucia and I came in town due to business, but I would love to join you."
Offering another smile, she turned and headed for the door before glancing behind her to make sure he was following her. Even so, she had a nice gut feeling about this Damien. Unlike most men he wasn't drooling at the sight of her so perhaps he would be of use.

Glad that she decided to join him, Damien gave her a smile and followed her in. The small cafe was nicely decorated, and the air-condition cooling the air inside was a welcome surprise. As expected there were already a lot of people inside, but not that many that it was overwhelming. Most who had bought ice cream there had probably headed outside again to enjoy the fine weather.
He waited for her to buy her ice cream, before buying some strawberry flavored ice cream. He had always loved he fresh taste of strawberries, and it hadn't changed after his death and subsequent resurrection. Finding a small table by the window he sat down, and enjoyed the reprieve from the heat. His shopping bags sitting innocuously by his feet. "You said you were in town for business, may I ask what kind of business?" He asked Lucia in an effort to start a conversation.
Stretching his feet he managed to tip over the shopping bags, and his art supplies spilled out on the floor with a crash. "Ah, great." He sighed, and carefully bent down to gather up his supplies, while carefully holding onto his ice cream. It wouldn't do to lose that too.
Finally after all his supplies was gathered up he could take a bite of his treat. And the refreshing taste of strawberry ice cream filled his mouth. This hadn't been a bad idea, not at all, and he once again thanked whatever deity was listening that he still had functioning taste buds.

The little cafe was adorable in some aspect and trailing behind Damien she carefully stared at the list of flavors before deciding on one. She settled on a strawberry cheesecake as it had little pieces of strawberry, cheesecake and was mixed in with vanilla ice cream which sounded delightful. Ordering after Damien got his icecream, she paid for it and followed him over to a table.
Settling herself onto the chair across from him. She glanced around the cafe to see a few couples and a few group of friends lingering about. Even a few gazes that glanced her over, but everything seemed pretty normal for the most part. Taking a few licks from the cone, her gaze returned to Damien as he asked her a question. Giving a light grin, she shook her head. "I don't think you would believe me, but let me just say it had to deal with a rumor being spread around here like wildfire." The answer was simple, but she didn't know who she was sitting with. Yes, she had dubbed him as usual at first just because she could make friends with him, figure out f he knew anything about the topic and if it had to come to using him as a scapegoat then so be it. She didn't make friends as she only had on purpose on her mind.
"So the library... Why did you choose that career path?" She asked as she returned to her icecream after all, most kids his age seemed to be in college.

"A rumor, about what?" Damien question lightly, furrowing his eyebrows. "I don't tend to follow gossip, so I always tend to miss such things." He certainly hadn't heard about any rumor, but then he tended to spend a bit too much time in either the library or at home painting. "Are you some form of reporter, private investigator or a cop then?" The woman in front of him certainly seemed smart enough to be any of them. He hoped she wasn't a cop though, or investigating any rumors of "grave-robbing" or cannibalism. That would be just his luck. He probably still had that grave-robbing charge on his criminal record.
He started to feel a bit nervous now actually, and tried to hide it. hopefully she wouldn't notice his sudden nervousness. Tapping his fingers idly on the table, he took another bite of his ice cream. Speaking of crime, he would soon need to feed again. He remembered reading in the obituary about a woman that died not too long ago, so her corpse wouldn't be too rotten yet.
Her next question relived him, and he chewed on his lip in thought before answering the question. "There wasn't any particular reason. I needed a job to pay fro rent and other necessities, and the library had a position open." He told her, before continuing. "It does help that I'm an avid reader, and does genuinely enjoy being surrounded by books." He smiled and took another bite of his ice cream.

The questions he asked only allowed her smile to turn into a grin while shaking her head. Yet, what caught her by surprise was the nervousness that showed up. It was her job to be aware of every little detail and this one didn't go unnoticed. If he was nervous, then he was hiding something... Perhaps now would be a good time to take a leap of faith. If he was a supernatural being, then he obviously wasn't a demon or angel as she knew for a fact that either one would have jumped at her with that little statement.
Kitsune didn't seem to match him either and that was a fact after all, she knew a kitsune when she saw one. Of course that only ruled out a few choices which meant she had a million more to go. Taking a good glance, she tried to guess what he was... Siren didn't seem right either neither did mermaid. Perhaps some sort of shifter? Twisting her lips as she tried to concentrate on figuring out, she let an eerie silence form between them before she spoke up softly.
"My job is to be aware of my surroundings and it seems I have set you off... Your nervous like your secret has been discovered." Taking a small lick of her ice cream she wondered how she would get this information out without anyone else hearing. As far as she could tell no hunter lingered near by... These kids were too relaxed and easy-going to be hunters.
"I felt something about you, but do not fear... I'm sure you have heard the whispers of Lucifer by now." She muttered off the last part as she had full trust he wasn't a hunter. He was just too polite and of course, nice to be one. Along with several other traits that wouldn't make a good hunter.
Listening to him explain, she gave a light nod of her head as she enjoyed literature herself. Yes, it came from sick little twisted mortals, but she still enjoyed it even if it dub her as a hypocrite. "I enjoy the classics like Mark Twain and Jack London. I just can't get into any of the modern books though."

The silence that stretched between them didn't do much to calm his nerves, and he could feel her eyes studying him. He took a another bite of his ice cream to calm down, and nearly choked on it at her next statement. But that statement had nothing on the one that followed, and Damien dropped his ice cream onto the table when he heard the name Lucifer.
Oh, he had heard whispers about it of course, rumors floating around, but he had always tried to convince himself they were false. But if she was talking about those rumors, then she was almost certainly a supernatural creature. "I've heard the whispers, yes. Though I tried not to get involved with whatever has been going on." He told her, and gave her a tight smile.
Getting involved with whatever was going on had seemed like a bad idea, something that would almost certainly lead to getting into fights. Something which he abhorred. Not to mention getting involved in those kind of things always attracted attention from cops and hunters, something he did not need.
Notes: Sorry it's not longer, I'm writing this before going out with some friends.
Welcome to the scenic town of Salem, Michigan where our story takes the stage. It’s the year 2016, a date not quite far for us to be unable to imagine. Whispers of rebellion are starting to shake the supernatural world, hunters are loading their pistols while the humans are nearly wetting themselves in fear. Each side has their finger on the trigger, itchy and waiting for the other to strike to set off this war. Which side will you choose or how will your story unfold? That, my friend, is left to the wiles of time unless you think you can play your cards right…. But only in the end will they truly be revealed.
